Howdy, folks! My name is Sam Judd, and my calling in life is to teach the Bible-to study the truth, live the truth, speak the truth, write the truth, and sing and song-write the truth. In short, the goal of my life is to know God, delight in Him, make Him known, and help others do the same! I am married to the lovely Ronni Jean Judd, who partners with me in living out this calling. I can never thank the Lord enough for her! Here are some of the ways our calling currently plays out in our lives:
I write songs, record CD’s, and we travel to do concerts or lead musical worship. Some of the songs I write fall into the “singer-songwriter” category, telling truth from the perspective of my story or someone else’s or how someone else’s story has impacted mine. It delights my soul to see people connect with God’s eternal truth through the vehicle of a story happening here in time. Other songs I write fall into what is often called the “praise and worship” category (though all songs are worship), designed for congregational singing, whether that congregation is a church, camp, concert audience, class, study group, or just a few friends belting it out in a car! I love hearing God’s people praise Him for who He is, what He’s done, what He’s doing, and what He will do, lifting up their voices to Him who is their greatest need and satisfaction!
I speak at various churches, schools, and events. My mentor, Michael Card, the singer-songwriter, author, and Bible teacher, says that our hands should tremble at being able to hold the written Word of God. His mentor, Bill Lane, described the responsibility to accurately teach the Bible by saying, “I am a man under authority.” It is with this sense of awe and responsibility that I seek to passionately communicate God’s eternal person, presence, plan and purpose pressed down on paper by His Spirit for His people!
I have several writing projects in the works and have been blessed to help with writing the devotions for a local ministry in the past.
We currently serve as missionaries in the hills of Eastern Kentucky with Beattyville, KY serving as home base. In my opinion, this area of the country has some of the nation’s most breathtaking hiking trails and rock structures! Though the natural beauty here is priceless, there are significant economic struggles in the region. Many churches in our area are not able to afford to pay a pastor full-time. So, as missionaries, thanks to the Lord’s faithfulness and the gifts of our supporters, we are able to assist local churches. It is my honor to serve as Associate Pastor for the people of New Prospect Baptist Church. When not on the road, I lead the music at church, with Ronni playing piano while I play guitar, and I bring the weekly sermon. When we are on the road, we have some faithful friends who fill in for us at the church. On Wednesday nights, we serve the youth group of Idamay Bible Church, where I also have the privilege of leading the music and doing the teaching. My friend, Mark Coburn, pastors there and is also a missionary.
I am involved with seeking to disciple and mentor, as I have greatly benefited from being mentored by Mike Card and others. I’ve had a lot invested in me and I am seeking to pass that on! Ronni has a heart for discipleship as well, having been mentored in her teens by her pastor’s wife.
Mike taught me that the teaching, music, and writing that we do should be a way to serve people, a way to wash their feet, a way to help them see Jesus. So, I hope you are served well by this site and the ministry resources that are found here. I hope that they will always spotlight Jesus, the Light of the world, that they will be of aid to you in your walk of faith with Jesus, Who is the Way, that they will help you better know Jesus, Who is the Truth, for only Jesus is the Life!
If your church, school, or event would be interested in having me come to speak or sing or both, please let me know! It would be an honor to serve!
