Dear Friends and Family,
In our previous prayer letter, we shared with you that the Lord was calling us into a new season of ministry and with that, a new mission board that would still allow us to continue ministering here in the hills of Eastern Kentucky as well as abroad on the road. We prayerfully considered various mission boards, and have joined InFaith. InFaith has been around a long time but has had other names in the past. Some of you may have known it as “The American Missionary Fellowship.” Their roots go back to before the United States was even formed and Francis Scott Key even served as a board member! InFaith works with missionaries all over the U.S. We have several friends who serve with them, including some here in KY.
So, what does our ministry with InFaith look like? It looks very much the same, but different in a good way! Here’s what I mean. We are still located in Beattyville, KY. On Wednesdays, we lead the youth group of Idamay Bible Church which is here in Lee County. On Sundays, we travel about forty-five minutes to New Prospect Baptist Church in Clay County. Ronni and I do the music and I serve as Associate Pastor. I am currently the only pastor on staff and am so privileged to be doing the preaching each week. Both of these churches are smaller, and your support helps make ministry there possible. Music ministry and ministry on the road doing music and speaking continues as well! We are blessed to have a couple of faithful brothers who are able to fill in preaching for me at New Prospect and teaching for me at Idamay’s youth group when we are on the road. We are continuing to work on the new album, which is a musical Bible study of some of Jesus’ identities. I am working on a book to go with it as well. This is the biggest project we have ever taken on, and we greatly appreciate your prayers! Another arena of ministry is the Natural Bridge and Red River Gorge area. We live about twenty-five minutes from there. People come from all over the world to this area! It is a favorite spot for climbers and hikers alike. Ronni and I have sensed a growing burden for folks there. We often pondered what would be a way to reach them. Over the past little while, we have been very intentional to being open to the Lord’s leading when we are in that area and He has been so faithful to have our paths cross with others with whom we could share about Him. Sometimes it has been encouraging a believer. Sometimes it has been pointing someone to the true Gospel. There is plenty of work to be done!
We also want to share with you the Lord’s faithfulness over the summer. Our last official day with our previous board was in May. Normally, we were involved with camp ministry. Now, we found ourselves looking at the summer and wondering what the Lord would have us do. We prayed intentionally about this and the very next day Ronni got a text that led to us spending four weeks at Camp Nathanael in Emmalena, KY! I had the privilege of being the camp pastor for the first elementary week and Ronni and I taught a missions class twice a day for a Jr. High week, the High School week, and the second elementary week. Ronni also greatly enjoyed getting to work with staff kids and in the kitchen some! We were so thankful for the opportunity to serve with the staff and summer missionaries! It was an amazing summer!
We also want to say, “thank you,” to all of you who have prayed, all of you who have continued to give or have saved and been waiting to give once we were with the new board. We cannot tell you how much we appreciate your partnership in ministry and encouragement to us during a very difficult season. God has been and is so faithful! Thank you for being an expression of His love to us and those we serve with you! For those who have been waiting for information on how to give, there are several ways to do so.
